Middlemass, Thomas.  Steam Locomotive Nicknames.  An illustrated dictionary from Aberdare to Zeppelin.  Locomotives have always attracted nicknames and Middlemass charts the origin and application of all from the well known such as the black 5s to the lesser known such as the LYR 'sea pigs'.  The later due to general sluggishness in steaming and poor water circulation!  An excellent publication.   Silver Link Publishing, 1991, pp144.  F, VG   price clipped      £4.75

Rhodes, Michael & Shannon, Paul.  Freight Only Vol. 2: Southern & Central Lines.  A comprehensive guide to BR freight today.  Although produced just less than 20 years ago the vast majority of scenes could not now be recreated, (eg. Chinor, Akeman Street, Hamworthy, Portfield, Bagworth, Donnington and UKF Gillingham, Dorset).  A splendid book for the freight and diesel enthusiast.  (pb)  Silver Link Publishing, 1988, pp160.  F   £5.95
